This year has got to be better than the last!

Been missing in action for quite some time.  To give an update to those have been so supportive, been wonderful enough to use my stock and anyone who is bored enough to listen...

Ok so far so good it looks like my mum's cancer is now in remission after chemo and radiation keep your fingers crossed it stays away.  The new roommate situation has gone over really really well and  our roomies recently had a strapping baby boy.  The hubster is still looking for a job since being laid off this summer but he has been such a big help through all this transition. MrPersonality and Monkeyman are fine, enjoying thier new school.  They dont enjoy hamming it up for me in front of the camera much anymore but maybe I will convince them again at some point. I am working now instead of staying home with the kids and painting. My brother who hit a tree and was in a coma has pretty much made a full recovery.  His speach is a little slured and he has to take anti siezure meds now but he is up around and making some positive changes in his life.

Last year was a big world o stress but it ended on a positive note so hopefully we will keep that through this year.

Move is finally over, working on unpacking and hoping to get back to you guys soon.  just havent had a lot of time for painting or photography between taking care of the family and job hunt.  In the mean time keep up the great work guys!.

032709- Wanted to take a little bit of time to give a little life update today.  The last month or two has been full of a great deal of growing for me.  A couple of things have come up that very much put into perspective that it is time to grow a little more.

My artwork is growing and changing, I know how to do so much more than I used to.  In the last 2 weeks I have been asked to help three different people with logos, web design and advertising.  The first two times I dabbled and did it for fun, I realized the third time hey maybe someone is trying to tell me something here.  Maybe I have grown enough that this isn't so much to dabble anymore. So, after realizing I was serious, some minor freaking out I got my hiney in gear.

I discussed the third offer and put together a proposal. One that is being considered for a 2 page center ad in a small business magazine.  They seem pretty happy and I am now just waiting to hear whether its a go or not.  

I learned- I can really do this.  I am ready.  I don't have to give up what I love to be able to do this, I was able to do it right here from home while taking care of my family (kids are on spring break- LOL nothin like working while being bumped repeatedly by a pack of foam sword fighting boys)

So- I am going legit. Looking into classes, what it will take to set this up as a small business and getting ready to start taking freelance work.

I am pretty excited!   PS didn't get that photoshoot I mentioned yesterday in but should get it in tommorow

03/26/09  jumpin in touchin base and saying, things are going a little better this week.  Our xbox did die and I am mourning its passing...but on the upside its spring break and the munchkins are home and begging to help do some more stock.  So assuming things go well tommorow I might get in a photo session


03/11/09 Thanks in advance for your patience.  I am doing a bunch of rearranging of the stock I have faved.  A bunch will be being removed from one place and put in another   I have decided to seperate details stock and buildings/structures into two different folders


03/10/09 I have gotten a couple of requests lately for me to get back to posting model stock.  I wanted to give you guys a little update on what was going on with me.  no excuses, no complaints about being asked... just a bit of a life update by way of explanation.

This last year has been really really rough.  It started with a family member showing up at my door the victim of domestic abuse- that led to months of extra house guests, lots of calls to the police and several court dates.  Once we finally got the people out of our house and things a bit back to normal my computer died so I was on a forced break there.  Then I got back to being able to post etc and I got the news that a close family member has been diagnosed with cancer.

Long story short- its been really traumatic.  I have been fighting depression, a freaking cold from hades that keeps coming back and in general feeling uninspired/ crappy about myself.

I am finally getting back into the swing of things, feeling a little better about me and the world around me so i am trying to get back to doing stock.  Thank you all for your understanding and patience while I get it back together.

03/0209- Ok so I was gonna go with shake your shamrocks but it just doesn't suit my mood at the moment. What have I learned today

a. When I am sick I am whiney and I have no willpower

b. Its really hard to sleep after being whacked in the head with a 6 foot wooden staff

maddness, the decent into maddness, the turn of phrase your mad. I can't tell you how many times I have had people tell me I am crazy for the questions I come up with or the strange ideas I get. I have always looked at the world around me or the social situations a little differently than other people. Lets see if I can work that to my advantage these days.

02/21/09 Oh wow today my middle munchkin turned 9.  He is getting so freakin grown up.  Maybe 3 more years and he will be taller than me.  No more hotwheels and legos- for his birthday all he wanted was a digital camera   So off we went... and I got him a little starter camera.  He spent half the night (well past bedtime but I couldn't stand to send him to up while he was so excited) running around the house and taking pictures of everything- from pets to pepsi boxes to pasta. He has always been the spitting image of his dad in look and temperment but maybe he is more like me than we though


01/26/09 01/26/09 It is official. I have a new computer, a new monitor and photoshop is installed.  I can get back to painting and editing!!  *does a little happy dance*

12-25  Just wanted to take a moment from the days festivities to say to my devart friends....  MERRY CHRISTMAS or whatever you celebrate!!  HAPPY HOLIDAYS PEOPLE!!!!


12-6 OMG sometimes those little boys drive me to distraction!  So day before yesterday we got our first real snow fothe year- a good 4 or 5 inches sitting outside my front door.  Of course the children immediately NEED to roll around in it.  So I throw thier clothes in the wash last night and this morning I throw them in the dryer and Monkeyman's gloves come unraveled in the wash... so I spent 2 hours this morning frantically crocheting a new hat and mittens for the boy (because "just new mittens would look stupid mom!!!")  Talk about cutting it to the wire i was finishing the last 3 stitches 5 minutes after they headed out for the bus, had to slog through the snowin my nightgown andacouple of heay sweaters only to get them to him AS the bus was pulling up.  Someday they will appreciate this or so I can hope..... I need a nap.

12-4 Random overshare- I have decided I am going to learn spanish fluently.  This has been a goal of mine since I was 10 years old and found out my biological background is hispanic.  I have no one to practice with really but I do have the very basics of the language down in understanding sentence structure and a handful of basic words Thanks to a semester of Spanish 101.  I understand the tenses, the masuline and feminine that is assigned to things etc.... sooooo now I have my mornings to myself with pretty much nothing ot do but clean the house and take care of the animals I am going to immerse myself in spanish.  The tv will be on only the latin channels at all times (yay for ridiculously large cable packages)...  In theory if I listen to the language 8 hours a day every day I should slowly absorb it right???

Its a theory, what have i got to lose?

  WHAT frightens you?  (dont tell anyone I told you but for me its homicidal clowns, anything that messes up peoples eyes or air conditioning vents--- yeah you heard me right- its a long story)  What is your favorite creepy crawling, fear inspiring setting, what was your scariest ever constume or mean evil prank--- in essense what deep dark thing embodies scary halloween to you?

Show me in your visual medium.  Looking for entries be they drawing, digital or physical paintings and the ever beloved photomanipers.  This leaves plenty of interpretation for you artists... could be a walk down a creepy corridor, a monster under the bed or a good old wolf out transformation from human to monster.  Dark, Surreal, even bloody gore all have thier place in any good halloween ho down so they have thier place here.

Clarification/Disclaimer due to an email I recieved- this contest isnt about spirituality but more of a  movie monster, racing hearts and screaming in terror- what creeps people out event. hehehe I am more interested in a good booga booga scare or even a deep evil emotional unrest. as long as its fits into the halloween theme.  I am completely uninterested in making a political statement or condoning any religion over any other.

MUST USE my stock as main subject- not just slapping one of my props on as a sideline and passing that off as good enough) use of people stock will get you more points than use of prop stock-  THOUGH if you make one of my props the main focus and turn them into an actual character thats another story and gets full credit

ONLY stock, brushes and backgrounds FROM DA or your OWN PERSONAL work may be used (this means no sxc or bought background etc)

I would just like to take a moment to say I am sincerly appreciative of every single person who took the time to hop on board, every journal features, those getting the word out and just those that have taken the time to even wish me luck.  It means a whole lot to me.  Thank you guys!!!!!!

Alright guys sending out the official plea for help.  I would like in the next week to put together my Dark and Creepy Halloween Contest  

THE POLL ABOUT IT IS HERE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOTE AND COMMENT FOR THE QUICKEST SHORT CUT TALLY OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE OFFERING [link]

It will  span manips and drawing/painting) Basically all things creepy dark halloweeny- leaving plenty of room for interpretation by the artist... could be a walk down a creepy corridor, a monster under the bed or a good old wolf out transformation from human to monster ... I lubs me some monsters. I would like it to run from Oct 5th to when else--- by midnight on halloween :-p   

Clarification/Disclaimer due to an email I recieved- this contest isnt about spirituality but more of a hollywood movie monster what creeps people out event. hehehe I am more interested in a good booga booga scare

THEME!! (most important to me- I want to see some ingenuity here- scary monsters, creepy situations, elaborate settings)

Blending and color use
Originality (anyone can stick a girl on a broom or pick up a pumpkin that doesnt make it a great halloween piece)

Pimpage- Can you offer journal features?  Are you good at networking or writing up reports?  Any way you can get the word out let me know!

Prizes- looking for prizes of all sorts.

and an open to other options if you have a special skill or product you would like to offer (hey mom that means I bet your beautiful earrings or dads awesome woodburnings would be great hint hint, hint hint :-p)

Current Rules (which will be in progress development till contest open at which point they will be set)
ONLY 3 ENTRIES Per Person
MUST USE my stock as main subject- not just slapping one of my props on as a sideline and passing that off as good enough) use of people stock will get  you more points than use of prop stock (and no worries more stock to come in the next 10 days)
MUST BE A NEW original piece designed for this contest
MUST BE SUBMITTED BETWWEN October 5th and  31st
